Established in 1993 and run by Elaine O’Sullivan, The Beauty Spot is one of the longest-trading beauty salons in west Cork. It operates from Lisieux House on Townshend Street and works with both Decleor and Dermalogica, which is unusual — most salons commit to one line. Beyond facials it offers laser hair removal and Apilus electrolysis, the latter being the only genuinely permanent hair removal method and increasingly hard to find outside cities. Thirty-plus years in a town the size of Skibbereen says a good deal about the client base.
