We think a directory should be honest about where its information comes from and how far you should trust it. This page explains how salons get onto BeautySalons.ie, what we check, and what we cannot tell you.
Where the information comes from
Listings come from two places. Most are compiled by our editorial team from information the business has already made public — its own website, its social media, its shopfront, and public business records. The rest are submitted by salon owners through our submission form.
Either way, a person reviews the entry before it goes live.
What has to be true before we list a salon
- A real trading name. Not “Beauty Salon, Athlone” — the name the business actually trades under.
- A real street address. A town name on its own is not enough.
- A phone number or Eircode, where the business publishes one.
- Treatment tags that reflect what the salon actually advertises.
If an entry cannot meet that bar, we leave it out rather than pad the directory. We have removed listings that failed it.
What we do not do
This is the part most directories skip, so we will be direct about it.
- We have not visited these salons. The short description on each listing is written by our editorial team from publicly available information. It is a summary of what the salon offers and where it sits — not a review, and not a personal recommendation.
- We do not rate or rank salons by quality. There are no stars here. Ordering is alphabetical or by distance, except that premium listings appear first, and those are always marked Featured.
- We do not hold opening hours or prices for individual salons. Our price guide gives typical national ranges, but always confirm with the salon.
How accurate is the distance search?
Our “find a salon near me” tool measures a straight line from your device to the salon’s town, not to its front door. In a rural area that is a reasonable guide. Within a city it is not — every salon in central Dublin sits on roughly the same point, so distances there tell you very little. We are working on door-level accuracy. Until then, treat the distances as a rough sort, not a measurement.
Something wrong? Tell us
Businesses close, move, rebrand and change hands, and a directory is only as good as its corrections. If a listing is wrong, out of date, or should not be here at all, email info@beautysalons.ie and we will correct or remove it. If you are the salon owner, say so and we will prioritise it.
We would rather have a smaller directory that is right than a bigger one that is not.
